I spoke to Capt Matt Harrelson with Spartina Tails Charter Fishing this morning and he reported some good Trout action down at the Seymore’s Pointe area. He was fishing between two docks on an outgoing tide and was tossing DOA Shrimp in the “Electric Chicken” color.
Capt Matt said he’d make a long cast up towards the dock, then let it fall to the bottom, then let the current bounce it along. He’d left the jog slowly on occasion and he said he’d get most of his bites on the “fall”, and out deep. Capt Matt reported a good number of bigger, legal sized Trout with a couple of them over 20″.
He fished some docks with guests on a tide that was about half way falling – fishing with a Carolina Rig and live shrimp and “tore ’em up” – lots of “Rat Reds” but a good handful of nice size Slot Reds. The key? Make sure you’re on the bottom with your bait and you’ll have non-stop action
